Difference between FUE and Strip Hair Transplant

The people who opt for Hair Transplant in Dubai are able to choose either FUE or Strip harvesting. Both methods of hair restoration have their advantages and disadvantages. Let’s explore some main differences between both procedures.

Scarring

In strip harvesting, surgeon needs to entail incision with scalpel in both nerve and blood vessels. It is an extensive surgical method that involves removing of a strip of hair bearing tissues. A linear visible scar is major downside of this method.
In FUE hair transplantation, surgeon extracts individual follicle units through microscopic instruments. A small 1mm scab is created on a place where follicle unit has been removed. This scar is completely invisible.

Sensation

Strip hair transplant procedure involves dissection from the deep layer of skin and blood vessels. Therefore, this method sometimes leads to temporary or permanent loss of sensation in patients.

A cosmetic surgeon doesn’t do deeper dissection since FUE hair transplant doesn’t involve nerve and blood vessel. There is no risk to sensation in this method.

Follicle Quality

In strip Hair Transplantation in Dubai, surgeon needs to remove a strip of skin having hairs along with some surrounding tissues. Some follicle units get damaged during this removal process and thus quality of FUs decrease. However, this is not the case with FUE since microscopic instruments let the surgeon to dissect hair in a damaged free manner. Quality of FUs in FUE hair transplant is higher than strip harvesting.

Pain

Patient may feel pain in scalp and head just when anesthesia wears off in a couple of hours. Swelling, itching and bruising are common side effects of both FUE and Strip harvesting. However, it is good to know that patient who undergo through FUE feel a little or no pain during or after surgical operation.
